Joanne (Jo) Chappell Theunissen is a licensed residential builder with extensive training and experience in interior and exterior design as well as residential mortgage. Jo is the first Certified Green Builder in the Central Michigan area. She serves as President of the Home Builders' Association of Central Michigan, sits as a State and National Director and is the elected Region II VP for the Michigan Association of Home Builders. She has also been elected as Michigan's State Representative to the National Association of Home Builders. She has been appointed to the Public Affairs Committee and Green Building Subcommittee of the National Association of Home Builders. Jo served as Chair of the National Green Building Conference held in New Orleans in July 2008 and has been appointed to Chair the 2009 Conference to be held in Dallas. Jo served as Chair of the Michigan Green Building Task force and was instrumental in the formation of a statewide program, Green Built Michigan. She has also been appointed to the Construction Codes Committee for the MAHB and sits on the Board of Directors for Green Built Michigan. Jo speaks to groups in both the U.S. and Canada on building strong communication links between builder and homeowner, the fundamentals of green building, universal design, and successful strategies for women in nontraditional careers.
